Does it make sense for folks in third world emerging nations to set up websites to make money? Apparently, in many places it is possible now as the digital divide is being crossed. Interestingly enough, a local inhabitant could set up a website and put up information about their area, sights, historical significance and collect AdSense money or trickle payments from Google.
How so you ask? Well, travel companies often buy 'pay per click' ads and this means there is a revenue stream available. Also, a local entrepreneur in such a market would be doing a huge favor for their community by putting it on the map so to speak, and they would have a way to get paid for doing just that. They could write about the town, village, community, or city; and tell all about its rich history, culture and heritage; about its people, ancestors, religion, customs, food; and about its scenic beauty.
Indeed, you begin to see how great such a little business could be for an individual in the third world with very little money or upward mobility, away from monetary resources and opportunity. Well today, all this and more is possible, a chance at a dream, a way to bring in revenue and people, tourists and money. Even a small town or village with nothing to offer can draw in philanthropic medical mission tours you see. It's all good and it can all be possible with just a little work, a website and a desire to succeed. Please consider all this.
