AdSense for those of you who do not already know, is an advertising product from Google that can provide you with an additional source of advertising revenue from each page on your website by simply inserting the AdSense code into each. Now with knowledge and a little old fashioned work, anyone can make money on line.
First, let me share a little bit of my background with you so that you can understand how I ended up testing whether or not AdSense was actually a good product that would generate income from my web site with no cash investment.
During basic training in the US Army in 198, I was disabled and received an honorable medical discharge. At that time, you had to be in listed a lot longer than just basic training in order to be eligible for military disability benefits. For that reason, I have never been eligible for more than Social Security Supplemental Income or, SSI. I have never been able to work since I became disabled. Living on about $ 630 per month is near impossible in America.
In March of 2007, I decided I would try to make money on line by starting my own website. I wanted to try this because with no work skills or work history and still being disabled and on SSI, it appeared my only option. Every time I searched for ways to make money on line, it seemed as though I kept ending up on a web page promoting AdSense. Occasionally, I decided to find out for myself whether or not I actually actually made a living with it.
The first thing I learned was that it was not as simple as just pasting the AdSense code on my web page. There are many factors that determine whether or not you will actually make money online with this advertising method. Sure you may make a few cents a day by blindly placing the AdSense codes within the content of your web pages. You can make even more money by placing the ads in positions on the pages where people are more likely to click on them. Also, if you want more clicks, you need to optimize the page content or people will see these strange ads that have absolutely nothing to do with what they came to the page for in the first place.
Within the AdSense console in your Google account, there are help features and optimization tips that give you insight as to where the best positions on a web site are for the ads. Hot spots are specific locations on a web page where users are more likely to click on adds. I found that placing the AdSense code at the top of my page, the middle and the bottom works best. Other people have found that they receive more click when their AdSense add-ons are along the right or left side of the page. It really depends on so many different factors so, just experiment and see which positions are generating more clicks for you.
Another question I answered for myself was whether or not the colors of the AdSense ads should be similar to my content or should they really stand out and be different colors. I tried making the ads as similar in color as I could by using the color palette within my account. This did not work well at all. My clicks and revenue fell through the floor. I went back to bright stand out colors and immediately my AdSense clicks climbed right back up. On one of my other web sites, I experimented with this again and the results were completely different. Making the ads similar to my web site color scheme dive the clicks up. So the variables are amazing. What works for some, does not always work for others, especially with AdSense.
A few of the most important things I have learned are that you need a substantial amount of content that is similar to the types of ads you want showing from Google. If you do not implement this, you will not generate AdSense revenue. If you are not a patient in trying different methods with the placement and color combinations, you will not get a real sense of whether the changes are actually making things better or generating less or more income.
Always abide by Google's rules that pertain to using AdSense. There are a lot of sad stories from people who have been banned for not following them. If you are not sure whether or not something is alright to do, ask Google or participate in the AdSense forums that they have set up to answer questions.
Finally, I believe that Google's AdSense product works. It can generate a substantial amount of revenue from your web site, but only if you are willing to make an effort. Two key components to success are patience and persistence. If I work hard and stay focused, I will make my American dream come true. I refuse to fail.
I truly believe that you, the person reading this, can make your American dream come true. Just believe, stay focused and whatever you do, do not give up! You are worth it and you deserve the best!
Please feel free to subscribe to my email list as I send out updates on working with AdSense regularly. I do not know everything about this product, I am still learning. I like answering questions and hearing how others are making money on line with Google products.
