Facebook Ads

With Facebook now having 60,000,000 page views every month and around 1 / 20th the amount of advertisers, the potential here is powerful.

If you choose to pay per click, it will be quite a bit cheaper than it is or was with Google AdWords.

Facebook ads are also more targeted. You choose who your ads are shown to and they also allow you to put a picture in your ad.

Set up is complete in a few easy steps.

1. Design Your Ad: Pick a headline, a body and put in a picture (I suggest you use a picture!)
2. Targeting: Here you can choose the location of your audience (country, state / province, city, etc.), male or female, their age, educational background, marital status, select keywords, etc. You can even target people just on their birthdays!
3. Pricing: Here you choose the limit you want to spend each day and you have a choice of paying either by the click or impression.

Three easy steps to setting up your ads. After setting up your ad, Facebook will first review your ad before it is shown. You will receive an email notifying you if it was approved or disapproved.

Now, just like Google AdWords, you're going to have to watch it and keep track of your conversions. Although it is less expensive for the click, they can add up fast. My first 2 hours after getting my ad approved, I already had 200,000 impressions and around 40 clicks!

I also suggest that you split test your ads. Try 2 ads with different pictures, or 2 with the same picture, but different text. You can also try sending them to different landing pages. Make sure that your landing pages are relevant to your ads!

Some ads will also work better in different countries. When setting up your ads, make a separate ad campaign for each country.

For those of you that want to advertise a business opportunity ... do not even bother! Facebook will not allow it. To get around this, try offering some kind of training or give away an ebook, webinar, podcast, etc. on your landing page and advertise this.
