15 Takeaways from Our Private Community (Plus Some Time-Savers for Writers)

15 Takeaways from Our Private Community (Plus Some Time-Savers for Writers)

Did you know we have a thriving private community of content marketers who get to sink their teeth into fresh, in-depth education every week?

Well, we do — and this week we’re sharing insights from that community.

On Monday, Jerod Morris recapped an epic answer he gave in one of our Authority Q&As recently. (As soon as he’d spoken it, I asked him if he could write a post about it.)

The question was about what a newcomer to webinars should know about delivering something worth attending — and Jerod prepared this in-depth answer, with seven solid points that will lift your webinar above the mass of “Meh.”

On Tuesday, I offered our October Content Excellence Challenge prompts. These are fun exercises you can work on to make your content better and to make more of it. I included three points that I observed during an Authority critique session — areas for improvement that I see again and again when I take a close look at a content-based site.

Then on Wednesday, we shifted gears a little, and Stefanie Flaxman revealed quick but mighty time-savers for writers. You might not realize how much time and creative flow you can save by getting familiar with keyboard commands (things you can type rather than getting your mouse or trackpad involved). They’re easy to learn, and they let you stay in that peak flow state so you can think about your words, not your trackpad.

Over on Copyblogger FM, I shared five more insights that I’ve gleaned from working with our community. These are the wince-worthy mistakes that others have made. (I’ve made some of them more than once.) I explain these unfortunate errors to help you learn from example rather than experience.

You’ll also get Copyblogger founder Brian Clark on The Writer Files talking about his writing process. And on Unemployable, Brian interviewed Seth Godin. It’s a great conversation about what it takes to succeed as a “solopreneur.”

Have a great weekend, and let us know what you found most useful this week! Just drop us a note in the blog comments — we’re always interested in your perspective.
